AGE 

Minimum age for participating the marathon or half marathon is 15 years old.

BIB NUMBER & RACE OFFICE

The bib number is personal and it must be attached to the front of the running shirt visibly. In any case the bib number should not be folded. BIB-numbers can be picked up from the race office.

We highly recommend to collect your race package already on Friday. 
You can also collect your friend’s package.

You will receive email/text-message about your bib-number latest on Thursday 19th August.
Please show this document (and possibly your friend’s codument aswell) at the race office, when you are collecting your race package.

The event office will be located in Meripuisto.

COURSE

Helsinki Marathon, 10k, half marathon and marathon relay will be run on urban streets of Helsinki. Courses are officially measured according to the AIMS and IAAF standards. Therefore all the participants will receive officially recorded time. The course is also well marked and the kilometer signs are visible.

EVENT SHIRT

All runners at marathon get their own event shirt included in the price. Marathon relay, 10k and half marathon runners can purchase their shirt when registering for the event or from the event.

To make sure you get the right size of the shirt, please purchase the shirt already beforehand.

HOTEL

The official event hotel at Helsinki Marathon year 2021 is Sokos Hotel Presidentti.
The runners of Helsinki Marathon will get the rooms for the race weekend for special prices.

MAXIMUM RUNNING TIME

Helsinki Marathon, Marathon relay and half marathon has a maximum time of six (6) hours.
10 km has a maximum time of two (2) hours.

PACERS

There will be pacers at Helsinki Marathon, half marathon and at 10k. 
Pacing times will be announced later.

Kids Run Helsinki Park is a running event that is organized at Helsinki Marathon.

Year 2021 Kids Run Helsinki will be run on 31.7..2021 and 21.8.2021.

CHEERING POINTS

There will be again this year great DJ’s and cheerleaders cheering for you on the course during your run. Invite your friends to cheer aswell!

PAYMENT METHODS

You can pay the entry fee by Visa, Mastercard or by Finnish online bank codes. We will also accept Finnish sport vouchers (Smartum, Eazybreak, Tyky, ePassi, Edenred and Virikesetelit) as payment method.

SERIES

The Helsinki Marathon, 1/2-marathon and the 10 k series based on the rules of Finnish Athletics Federation and IAAF are: Men General, Women General, and age groups 40, 45, 50 and 55 for both men and women. Runners are placed in the age series automatically regarding to their birth date. The general series includes all runners. Besides there are series for other-gender in all the distances. For Marathon Relay series are: Men, Women, and Open

GROUP DISCOUNT

We offer a -15 % discount for the groups with 5 persons or more. Ask more information here: info (at) helsinkimarathon.fi. The offer is valid for the limited time and can’t be combined with other discounts.

YOUTH DISCOUNT

Are you 25-years-old (born 1995 or later) or younger on the event day? We’ll offer you 25 % discount for registration fee, just add code YOUTH2021 to the registration form. The offer is valid for the limited time. Youth discount cannot be combined with any other discounts. The discount can’t be used after the registration is done or at late registration.

The participants can only run with their own name and number. Running with a wrong name or number is prohibited. The Participant engages to follow the organizers’ rules and instructions on the day of the event.

INSURANCE AND RUNNER’S RESPONSIBILITY

Runners will participate at their own responsibility to the event, and the organizer has not taken insurance for any accidents or injuries caused by runners. Comprehensive insurance is recommended for participants. The first aid points will be located in the finish area and on the route.

START AND FINISH LINE

The start and finish line are located in Meripuisto. 

MARATHON RELAY

The runner at the first leg will start the race together with the first start group of marathon runners. Marathon relay includes four legs, and the exchange to the next runner will be done after a full lap. There are signs that direct relay runners to the exchange zone.

Each team will need a baton. The baton will be given to next runner on the exchange zone. Each marathon relay team will get four bib numbers. In addition to the team’s number, each bib number also includes a leg number. It is highly important that legs will be run in the order of the leg numbers.

BAG DROP

The bag drop is free for all Helsinki Marathon runners. You can leave your belongings in bag drop in the special bag  with the sticker of your race number. You will get the bag and the sticker when you pick up your bib-number. Remember to have the sticker of your number on the string of the bag. Please keep your bib-number with you as you come to pick up the bag. The bag will be handed for you only when you show your bib-number. Opening times on the race day: 7.00 am until 3.00 pm.

EVENT EXPO

The event expo area is located right next to the start and finish at Helsinki Marathon.

EVENT SHIRT

KIDS RUN HELSINKI PARK

Kids Run Helsinki Park is a running event that is organized at Helsinki Marathon.

Year 2021 Kids Run Helsinki will be run on 21.8.2021.

AWARDS

At the finish all the marathon, marathon relay, half marathon and 10k runners will receive the Helsinki Marathon 2021 exclusive medal.

Any runner who is one of the top overall finishers in the Helsinki Marathon Open Category (Men/Women), will be entitled to Prize Money:

10 km (Men finishing time <29.30 and Women finishing time <33.00)
1. 500 €
2. 250 €
3. 125 €

Men over 29.30 minutes and Women over 33.00 minutes are not entitled to the prize money.

21,1 km (Men finishing time <1.04 and Women finishing time <1.13)
1. 800 €
2. 400 €
3. 200 €

Men over 1.04 hours and Women over 1.13 hours are not entitled to the prize money.

REFRESHMENT STATIONS

There will be hydration stations approximately every 3-4 kilometer on the marathon and half marathon course and two stations for the 10k runners. There will be water and sports drink available. 

Stations: More detailed information coming later.

You can also take your own refreshments in the event. In that case please bring your hydration bottles with clearly marked km-signs on. Personal bottles will be located in the end of the tables at the refreshment stations. More detailed information will be given closer to the event date.

The official sports drink partner at Helsinki Marathon is Dexal. Dexal will provide runners energy gels and sports drink on the course and at the finish.

CHEERING POINTS

FINISH LINE SERVICE

There will be some snacks and water at the finish.
TEHO Sport is one of our partners at finish line service at Helsinki Marathon. TEHO helps all the Helsinki Marathon runners to start active recovering after the race.

TIMING AND TIME CHIP

There will be chip timing at the Helsinki Marathon. Chip will be attached to race number. Each runner must draw the number on the front of the shirt and it must be displayed in the shirt throughout the running. The number should not be folded. You are only accepted to run with your own number. Running with another number is strictly prohibited. There is no need to return the chip after race. Every runner will receive gross and net times.
