Helsinki Marathon will be organized for the second time on August 24, 2019.

Will be published closer to the event. Premilinary start time is 9 am.
All the runners born year 1994 or later are entitled to the youth discount (- 20 %). Use the code HMNUORISO to get the discount. The discount can’t be combined with another discount.
EVENT AREA MAP
The event area at Helsinki Marathon is Meripuisto in Eira.
The bib number is personal and it must be attached to the front of the running shirt visibly. In any case the bib number should not be folded. BIB-numbers can be picked up on the race week and on the race day morning from the race office:
Friday 23.8. Shopping Mall Forum between 12 pm and 8 pm
Saturday 24.8. Meripuisto, Eira between 7 am and 8.30 am
Possible changes will be updated closer to the event.
Helsinki Marathon, 10k, half marathon and marathon relay will be run on urban streets of Helsinki. Route of 2019 will be published later, official route of 2018 can be found here!
Both routes are officially measured according to the AIMS and IAAF standards. Therefore all the participants will receive officially recorded time. The route is also well marked and the kilometer signs are visible.

The start and finish line are located in Meripuisto, Eira.

The bag drop is free for all Helsinki Marathon runners.You can leave your belongings in bag drop in the special bag you get when you pick up your bib-number. Remember to have the sticker of your number on the string of the bag. You get the bag only for showing your bib-number. Opening times will be published closer to the event.
The event expo area will be open on the race day 24th August. The event expo area can be found next to the start and finish line at Meripuisto, Eira. More information coming up.
Helsinki Marathon official event shirt is Björn Borg’s technical t-shirt. All runners at marathon and marathon relay get their own shirt. 10k and half marathon runners can purchase their shirt when registering or when picking up their bib-number.

MAXIMUM RUNNING TIME
Helsinki Marathon, Marathon relay and half marathon has a maximum time of six (6) hours.
10 km has a maximum time of two (2) hours.
There will be pacers at Helsinki Marathon, half marathon and at 10k.
We are providing marathon pacers at least for the following finisher times: 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 4:45, 5:00, 5:30, 6:00.

A good way to prepare for the race day is to reload some carbs at Helsinki Marathon Pasta Party! The tickets in advance are 12 EUR and can be booked from the registration site. Pasta party will be held at Radisson Blu Seaside on Friday 23rd August in the evening.

KIDS RUN HELSINKI PARK
Kids Run Helsinki is a running event that is organized at Helsinki Half Marathon.

At the finish all the Marathon, Marathon relay, half marathon and 10k runners will receive the Helsinki Marathon exclusive medal.
Any runner who is one of the top overall finishers in the half marathon Open Category (Men/women)
will be entitled to Prize Money (year 2019):

The amounts will be cut half, if the times are: Men 2.25:00 minutes or over/Women 2.40:00 minutes or over.
Men with time 2.30:00 or over and Women with 2.50:00 or over are not entitled to the prize money.
The prize awards will be held close to the finish on the race day.
There will be hydration stations approximately every three kilometer on the marathon and half marathon course and two stations for the 10k runners.
TIMING AND TIME CHIP
There will be chip timing at the Helsinki Marathon. Chip will be attached to race number. Each runner must draw the number on the front of the shirt and it must be displayed in the shirt throughout the running. The number should not be folded. There is no need to return the chip after race. Every runner will receive gross and net times.
You can pay the entry fee by Visa, Mastercard or by Finnish online bank codes. We will also accept Finnish sport vouchers (Smartum, Eazybreak, Tyky, Virikesetelit, Ticket Duo, ePassi and Virikesetelit) as payment method.
CANCELLATION OF PARTICIPATION
No cancellations of participation are required. We will not refund your participation fees in any circumstances. With a medical certificate transfer to the next year is possible against a transfer fee of 5 EUR.
TRANSFER OF PARTICIPATION TO A NEW RUNNER
Participation can be transferred to another person or to another #werunhelsinki -event year 2019 by a 5 EUR transfer fee.
The Helsinki Marathon, 1/2-marathon and the 10 k seriesbased on the rules of Finnish Athletics Federation and IAAF are: Men General, Women General, and age groups 40, 45, 50 and 55 for both men and women. Runners are placed in the age series automatically regarding to their birth date. The general series includes all runners.Besides there are series for other-gender in all the distances.

The participants can only run with their own name and number. Running with a wrong name or number is prohibited. The Participant engages to follow the organizers’ rules and instructions on the day of the event.

INSURANCE AND RUNNER’S RESPONSIBILITY
Runners will participate at their own responsibility to the event, and the organizer has not taken insurance for any accidents or injuries caused by runners. Comprehensive insurance is recommended for participants. The first aid points will be located in the finish area and on the route.
